Here is the Inside-out piano.  I made it in November 2008 and have been gigging on it since then.  The idea behind the piano was to make the insides more accessible, thus the strings are above the keyboard, right in front of the pianist.  I also felt this would be much more interesting for an audience to look at.  The addition of electronics came through thinking about how an electronic-like layering of sounds might happen, without having to use electronic sounds.  The “wii-wheel” (the bike wheel on the left) came from thinking about how to control live processing in a physical way.  By pressing different buttons on the wii attached to the wheel, different processes are activated and then controlled by the spinning.
